Today
you will be looking at Disney. One of the ways that Disney is so
successful is that they are excellent at creating a brand image and tie
their brand to emotional experiences. Disney is also good at
'diversification', that is dealing in more than one area/product/target
market.
Today you will focus directly on Disney Movies. Disney traditionally made kid movies that would also appeal to parents. Today they have diversified and make different movies with different target audiences.
Please research each of these offshoots of the Disney corporation and explain what thier target markets are.

Marketing 12
Marketing is becoming less about getting information out to consumers and more about getting information from consumers (to then use to influence the same consumers of course). Google is one of the emerging masters of this. Today we look at some of the business acquisitions Google has been making and why? How does this strengthen their company?
LINK
Questions.
1. Why do companies buy out other companies (more than one possible reason)?
2. What is the 'talent war'?
3. Describe 3 of Google's recent acquisitions.
4. The very end of the article predicts that in the future, Google could posses as much if not more power than governments. Do you feel this is true in anyway? If so, how do you feel about this?

You are to create a research report/paper/powerpoint on how Tim Hortons or another Company (Subway or Mcdonalds for example) has increased its market share through altering/increasing their menu.
The report should include main changes or campaigns such as when Tim's started to sell lunch foods to capture lunch goers, breakfast foods, and soon to be dinner foods. Remember, you can increase market share by increasing the whole size of the market, or stealing it from your competitors. How has Tim's done this.

Customer/Consumer Research Project!
Congratulations,
after receiving an outstanding recommendation from Mr. Southwell, Hurtsville
Marketing Inc. has hired you as the new Department Head of the Market Research
Division.
Hurtsville
Marketing Inc is looking at introducing some new products into the Newton area of Surrey,
specifically at Frank Hurt Secondary.
Your
Task: It is your job to come up with either a new or existing product
or service that the students ages 13-18 would be interested in. You must then make a list of at least five
survey questions, multiple choice or yes no type questions are best. You must then ask at least 30 people the
questions and record them in chart form.
It is best if you ask a variety of different students, from different
grades, classes, of different genders etc.
(half of them may be from your department {class} but the rest must be
from different classes.) Once we have
your info, the whole department will look at your results to decide whether or
not they agree with your findings.
Corporate Resources: There are 4 different sample charts located
on the Frank Hurt Shared Drive:
Go into the Frank Hurt Shared
Drive, Classes, Mr.Southwell, Consumer Customer
Sample Charts. (Always, sometimes, never #1 is my suggested
format but you’re the Boss!)
Once you have
completed your survey, you are to present your findings using at least one
GRAPH (Pie, Bar, Line etc.). You will
present your findings on a small poster to be displayed to the rest of the
employees in the boardroom (classroom).
Include in your poster a clear and concise summary of what you have
found out from your survey. Your
findings will be discussed at a group meeting with all staff.
NOTE: If you
wish, you may choose to center your survey on a product that you think will
sell well in our store. You can then use
this survey as a foundation to build future projects on. (5 marketing points)
Good-Luck,
you come highly recommended. Now, let’s
see what you can do!!
